THE BIRTH OF A NEW ART FORM
Glass Painting (Gemmail) is a form of colored glass art founded by the French painter Jean Crotti in the 1930s. In the mid-1950s, Picasso was amazed by the skilful combination and arrangement of gemmail by glass artisans, referring to it as “The Birth of a New Art Form,” and he personally explored the potential of this medium.
Picasso Collaborated with the French artist Roger Malherbe-Navarre’s studio, using combinations, layering, and sticking colored glass pieces to transform some of his works into glass paintings. These works were reimagined through light projection, giving them a modern feel, and Picasso’s innovative artistic techniques elevated his works, making them unique creations.
A RADIANT GEM IN THE URBAN SKYLINE
Glass Painting [Gemmailu], It’s French name is derived from the combination of the words Enamel (Émail) and Gem (Gemme), meaning “Rose Gem.” with the unique brilliance and rarity of gemstones, combined with the birth of innovative art from Picasso’s residential phases 1 to 2, Gemme became the core concept of the project.
This is also the origin of the name Picasso Sky Gemme (Picasso Sky Gemme).
